Leading U.S. Companies Urge Congress to Act Now on Federal Clean Energy and Climate Change Legislat Posted November 4, 2009

More than a dozen leading U.S. corporations—including Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG), DB Climate Change Advisors (Deutsche Bank Group), Gap Inc., and National Grid—announced the launch of a new initiative to support Congressional action on clean energy and climate change legislation. The goal of the new group, called American Businesses for Clean Energy (ABCE), is to offer a platform for leading U.S. businesses to express their support for meaningful and effective legislation that will drive clean technology innovation, create jobs, and address the threat of global climate change.

Reports shows job potential in US renewable energy sector Posted November 4, 2009

Four of the top publicly-traded clean tech employers in the United States are renewable energy companies from abroad...

“The unprecedented level of interest and activity in clean-tech jobs is considerable, but there’s a reason for it,” the report explains. “Many believe we are just at the beginning of the clean-tech jobs creation era, with clean tech offering the greatest opportunity for wealth and job creation (and global economic competitiveness) since the advent of the computer and the Internet.”

California Legislature passes state water conservation bill Posted November 4, 2009

The legislation, part of a larger package, mandates a statewide drop in per capita water use by targeting urban areas. The Assembly is still considering other measures already approved by the Senate...

The Assembly was drawing up amendments to add $1 billion to the bond measure passed by the Senate, pushing it to nearly $11 billion.

Water managers ease grip on region Posted October 21, 2009

People have responded so well to demands for water conservation that several districts across San Diego County are planning to ease off the brake pedal.

More than three months after they set sweeping rules to reduce use, officials are tweaking the regulations based on how much more water they still need to save and requests from the public for specific changes.

  Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and legislative leaders plan a seventh straight day of water negotiations Monday, as the governor summoned lawmakers for a special session on the state's water problems.
   Talks on how to address the state's deteriorating and inadequate water system ended late Sunday after nearly 12 hours, though leaders said they moved closer to a deal.

High-speed rail project waits for stimulus funds Posted October 7, 2009

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger applied for funds last week to begin the initial stages of what could be one of California’s largest transportation projects ever.

He announced that California has applied for $4.7 billion in stimulus money to help build an 800-mile bullet train system that would stretch from San Francisco to San Diego. The application, which was filed last Friday, aims to receive more than half of the $8 billion in funds available for nationwide high speed rail projects.
