Equinox Profiles: Ashley Phillips, Volunteer
Equinox Center has always been powered foremost by the incredible network of people behind it. Through this ongoing series, we introduce you to some of the thousands of individuals who make up the Equinox network.
Ashley Phillips was born and raised along the coast in Santa
Cruz, California. She grew up as an avid surfer and "outdoorswoman,"
moving to San Diego in 2005 to attend UCSD where she graduated with a Bachelor
of Science in Environmental Systems. Her studies focused largely on human
impact on the environment through the many overlapping disciplines related to
complex environmental issues. She currently works at Mitch's Surf Shop in La
Jolla as a manager and buyer and volunteers for Equinox Center in her spare
time. She plans to pursue an MBA program in the fall with a focus on
sustainable business and corporate social responsibility.
Q: What drew you to get involved with Equinox Center?
A: I was drawn to Equinox’s unwavering commitment to making San Diego the best city it can be by providing people with fact-based information on all the critical issues relevant to fostering a healthy environment, strong economy and vibrant communities. There are so many crucial issues that need to be better understood and more efficiently dealt with and Equinox helps provide people with the information needed to allow them to make the most informed decisions. I believe there should be an Equinox in every major city. That is why I am passionate about helping Equinox further their cause in any way I can. I want to help them change San Diego for the better so that generations to come can enjoy the city we love.
