Ever wondered how Equinox Center is funded?
A letter from Equinox Center Executive Director Ann Tartre
Dear Friends:
How is Equinox Center funded?
It’s the #1 question we get
from people who are just learning about us. We get it -- follow the money to
find the special interests, right?
But what happens when a core
principle of your organization is not to accept special interest funding and influence?
When you were founded, like Equinox Center was 3 years ago, precisely because
the San Diego region needed a truly independent, non-partisan,
objective source for solutions to
solve the challenges that threaten our quality of life?
Well...then you’re in for a
tough slog! Fortunately, we love what we do, and evidence is mounting that others do as
well. Being community supported is what enables us to take a balanced look
at both economic AND environmental issues in identifying opportunities to help
the region grow intelligently.
We’re not funded by the
government. We don’t charge for our services. So where does the money come
from?
Individual contributions from people just like you make up more than 50% of our
annual operating budget.
In other words, yes!, your
contribution of $10, $25 or $50 a year helps keep Equinox Center up and
running. So you could just ignore this post -- what’s $25, right?
Well, actually, it’s everything.
Will you take two minutes right now to make a donation of
$25 to Equinox Center?
Thank you!
