Factoid Friday: A Simple Way to Save Your Household Thousands of Gallons of Water a Year

Want a quick way to reduce your water footprint? This week, Equinox Center released a new report in its H2Overview series that found San Diego households could use water 20 to 30 percent more efficiently simply by installing more efficient toilets, clothes washers and reducing over watering in yards. The most “bang for the buck” can be found outdoors. Most households that use water for landscaping in San Diego County use about 50 gallons per day more than needed. By eliminating over-irrigation alone the average single family home in San Diego could save 17,000 gallons per year.
